Chaman (62), a farmer and an illiterate man did not have the required knowledge to grow tube roses and vegetables. While participating in our seminar on the significance of Floriculture and Vegetable Gardening in a village, Chaman expressed his desire to know more information about seeds for flowers and vegetables. The staff of community development shared the booklets and pamphlets of Punjab Agricultural department with him but then he told he could not read and then a literate youth member of the local church was requested to read these books to him, which he diligently did for a month. In the meanwhile, meetings were regularly held with Chaman to inculcate a positive attitude for his new initiative. Finally, he learnt and sew seeds and after time of three months, he came to the office of Community Development with his tube roses and vegetables. He was happy and thankful to the Community Development Office for the continues support, guidance and efforts that allowed him to learn some basics.
